Great Burger Recipes for Infants, Toddlers, and Kids

Infant and toddler burger, studded with avocado and black beans, is presented on a bun.

Your child will be able to eat a burger patty by around 10-11 months (sans bun, of course); (s)he won’t ever stop. Cheeseburgers, turkey burgers, sliders, crabcake burgers, veggie burgers–anything on a bun is game and ready for you to add to your toddler burger recipes arsenal. Whether it’s for lunch, dinner, or a fun weekend meal, burgers are incredibly versatile and can be made healthy and toddler-friendly with just a few tweaks.

By default, most of the toddler burger recipes on New Dad’s Kitchen are designed/intended for sliders, as mini-burgers are the perfect portion size to match a small child’s appetite and interest; all, though, can easily be modified to regular sized buns simply by increasing the size of the patty. Seasonings, too, are up to you; add cheese if your child if/when your child is ready for it. In many cases, we’ve integrated vegetables and/or other nutritionally dense foods directly into the meat grind; you can go even further by adding toppings–say, veggies or cottage cheese or yogurt–to your finished product.
