Sure, you could serve the stuff straight from the can–and you should!–but if you want to get your kid the nutrition he/she needs, are looking to clear out your pantry, and/or don’t want to drown your kiddo in a salt bath, I’ll let you in on a not-secret: toddler soup recipes are not hard to make. Let go of whatever perception you have of slow cooking–and fast stirring–a pot for hours on end; the ones we provide here are done within 20-30 minutes, most with minimal effort. Nutrition, taste, and texture–these soups check all the boxes.
Green Vegetable Soup (Ribollita)
Chicken and Rice Porridge
Split Pea Soup
Toddler Gazpacho
Broccoli Cheddar Soup
Infant Lentil Soup
Corn Chowder
Pumpkin Chili
Pumpkin Seed Stew
We like to serve these with “toast”–sometimes with just a piece of toasted bread with hummus or avocado on top, sometimes with a breadstuff we make ourselves. Some options:
Protein Muffins
Avocado Bread
Kale Cheese Puffs
Toddler Foccacia
